Connecting The D.O.T.S.
In this Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) skills course, we begin to assess how our behaviors serve us with the acronym D.O.T.S which stands for Distraction, Opting-Out, Thinking Strategies, and Self-Harm/Substances. By exploring behaviors we may engage in to avoid discomfort for negative thoughts and feelings, we can better decide what action to take to have a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
